France faced Germany in the first game on Saturday and it was a good atmosphere against the hosts, but they were able to keep their lead and secure it in the second half for the 86-64 win and the spot in the gold medal game. Gabby Williams led all scorers with 22 points in 31 minutes followed by Janelle Salaun, who had 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in 27 minutes. Carla Leite had 9 points in 15 minutes and Migna Toure had 2 points in 12 minutes.
Natalie Nakase and Katelin Knox
The United States was the other team that had been undefeated in the tournament so far as they faced Spain. Katelin Knox got early airtime as the trainer as she had to deal with player bleeding. The game was close until the fourth quarter when the United States built a lead and got the 76-66 win. Sunday’s championship will now feature Valkyries players against Valkyries staff. Maria Conde tied for the scoring lead with 17 points in 23 minutes.
