A day before their preseason opener, the Golden State Valkyries made a number of announcements, including details for games that will be broadcast locally. The team had previously announced a deal with CBS to show games in both the Bay Area and Sacramento media markets, but the breakdown of which games will be on the channel that carries CBS programming versus the secondary channel has been finalized.

Channel Breakdown

Games in the Bay Area will be split between KPIX and KPIX+ (KPYX). Thirteen games will be on KPIX while KPYX will carry twenty-two regular season games and both preseason contests. KOVR will only be carrying two of the games in the Sacramento area with the other games on KMAX with neither channel carrying the first preseason game.

Games on Other Channels

Local fans will not be able to catch all of the games on just those two channels as the national broadcast networks have exclusivity on the games that they carry. That means that ABC will carry one game and ION will carry seven games as previously announced. CBS will carry one game with the national broadcast instead of the local broadcast.

Broadcast Team

The team had previously announced half-hour pregame and postgame shows as part of the initial broadcast information release, but just revealed the on-air talent for those shows and the games. Northern California native Morgan Ragan will be the color commentator alongside Jacob Tobey, the lead announcer for the San Antonio Spurs, or Derek Clark. Local broadcast legend Vern Glenn will host the pregame and postgame shows with current anchor Matt Lively also participating for some of the games. Zena Keita, who already has extensive experience on Santa Cruz and Golden State Warriors broadcasts will be the main studio analyst while WNBA veteran and Cal legend Layshia Clarendon will also appear for some of the games.

Other Announcements

It was a busy for announcements from the team and fans watching the games at Chase Center got news about the in-game entertainment offered. The PA announcer, host, DJ, hype team, and a dance team were all announced. Ahead of the first game, the team also shared a picture of the full court design. In addition to a parent company rebrand to be inclusive of both the Warriors and Valkyries, the app that fans use for home games also has a new name and design.
