Both teams clinched spots in the next round yesterday, but Sunday’s game to close out group play still had implications for both teams in determining their semifinal opponents. The Bay Area Phoenix returned to their original starting lineup and led throughout the first quarter. Antioquia took the lead in the second quarter and withstood a push in the third quarter, still holding a comfortable lead halfway through the fourth quarter. The WPBA representatives put themselves in position to make the comeback and Ameela Li tied up the game with a three pointer with 76 seconds left. Carolina Lopez scored to give the hosts a lead again, but Rebecca Harris hit a three pointer with 24 seconds left and the Phoenix successfully defended the last position to escape with a 53-52 win. Harris finished with game highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds and Aliyah Collier added 12 points and 8 rebounds while Li had 11 points.

The other game on Sunday had Pioneras defeating Salvadores, but that was only for third place in the group and did not have any bearing on the next round. By finishing in first place, the Phoenix will play the second place team from the other group in the semifinal in November and that opponent will be Sportiva Italiana from Chile. Antioquia will play the winner of the other group, Union Florida of Argentina.
