Where are the Valkyries? National Team Break Edition

Great Britain started qualification for EuroBasket 2027 on Wednesday when they hosted Switzerland. It was not the best start as the team was aiming for one of the two automatic spots in the next round, but they eventually got the 85-64 win. Temi Fagbenle played her first game since the Valkyries season ended, providing 12 points and 8 rebounds in 29 minutes. They suffered an 85-81 upset loss to Austria on Saturday even though she had 22 points in 34 minutes. Their last game was in Norway on Tuesday and they won 91-48 with 13 points in 22 minutes from her.

Juste Jocyte

Lithuania will be one of the four host countries for EuroBasket 2027, including the final round. Those teams are playing each other in games to give them the opportunity to prepare for the tournament at a high level. On Thursday, they visited Sweden, getting the 87-65 win as Juste Jocyte had 19 points in 26 minutes to lead all scorers. On Sunday, they hosted Belgium, winning 73-69 with 12 points in 32 minutes for her as their opponents rested multiple players, including former Valkyries Julie Vanloo and Kyara Linskens.

Maria Conde

The teams that have made it to World Cup qualifying from Europe have byes for the first EuroBasket qualifying stage, but are still having gatherings during this break. Spain is hosting France and Italy, which they lost to 77-61 on Friday. Maria Conde had 4 points in 19 minutes while Cecilia Zandalasini ended up not being healthy enough after her last club game to join up with Italy. They placed France on Sunday, losing with 72-68 as she had 4 points in 22 minutes. France did not call up some of their top players, but Carla Leite had to withdraw after an injury from her club team, while Migna Toure had 14 points in 27 minutes to lead her team.
