Game Preview: Regular Season Game 33 vs Chicago Sky

Date, Time, Location: Friday, August 15th, 4:30pm PDT, Wintrust Arena (Chicago)
Broadcast Information: ION (check local affiliate), WNBA League Pass (out-of-market streaming), Audacy (radio)

The Golden State Valkyries finish a two-game road swing when they visit the Chicago Sky after also playing there two weeks ago. Golden State will be trying to keep up their recent momentum as they look to seal a spot in the playoffs while the Chicago Sky have struggled all season long and are battling injuries. This is another time when there are multiple games on ION and the Valkyries were not chosen for the primary broadcast so you will need to check viewing options in your area.

The Valkyries

Golden State was able to win the last meeting between the teams despite Tiffany Hayes and Cecilia Zandalasini being out alongside Kayla Thornton and Monique Billings with both set to be available this time. That game was the start of Kaila Charles’s first contract so the Valkyries would need to sign her to another contract for her to continue with the team as her second 7-day deal would have expired.

The Opposition

Chicago lost another game after falling to the Valkyries to extend their losing streak to eight games before picking up a win. After that victory, they started another losing streak that sits at three games after a loss to the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday to finish a short road trip. Injuries were a big story in the first meeting and Angel Reese is set to miss this game too having not played this month. Ariel Atkins and Hailey Van Lith also missed the previous matchup and are currently on the injury report, but are expected to play after seeing time in their last game.
