Covering the Golden State Valkyries and Bay Area Women's Professional Basketball

Game Preview: Regular Season Game 28 vs Las Vegas Aces

Date, Time, Location: Sunday, August 3rd, 3:00pm PDT, Michelob ULTRA Arena (Las Vegas)
Broadcast Information: KPYX (Bay Area), KMAX (Sacramento Area), KMCC (opposition’s local broadcast area), Audacy (radio), KWWN (opposition radio)

The Golden State Valkyries finish their road trip on Sunday when they visit the Las Vegas Aces. This will be the first of two consecutive games against Natalie Nakase’s former team as they will also meet in San Francisco on Wednesday after splitting the first two matchups. Having already secured a winning trip, the Valkyries will be looking for an incredible finish against a team that they are close to in the standings.

The Valkyries

Player availability will be a concern in this game too as the Valkyries have little time to rest and recover after two tough games with shorthanded lineups. Neither Cecilia Zandalasini nor Tiffany Hayes have been ruled out of the game yet, so Golden State could have eleven players available. Iliana Rupert will get the chance to face the team where she started her WNBA career.

The Opposition

The Valkyries will not be the only team battling some fatigue as the Aces just played the first place Lynx. The complete blowout loss on Saturday did mean that nobody played too many minutes for Las Vegas and the margin should have them coming out of the gates with intensity in their next game. There have been no roster changes for the Aces recently and all ten players saw time against Minnesota. Since their win over Golden State three weeks ago, they won two games in a row twice and suffered two losses to the Lynx, leaving them at 14-14 heading into this game, just behind the Valkyries in the standings and currently out of the playoffs.
