The Golden State Valkyries continue their road trip on Tuesday looking to bounce back from their worst defeat of the season so far when they face the Atlanta Dream. They suffered a loss on their last visit three weeks ago, but both teams will have different lineups available in the latest matchup. With this trip not starting off on the right foot, this will be a big test of whether the team can get back on track or if are at risk of dropping out of a tie for a playoff spot in the loss column.

The Valkyries

Monique Billings has not been ruled out completely yet after missing the last two games and she was in the starting lineup in the last meeting with the team where she started her career in order to counter that their two-center lineup. This will certainly be a good game to have four healthy post players even if the Valkyries would be able to play smallball some of the time. Iliana Rupert will get the chance to face her former team while Carla Leite and Cecilia Zandalasini missed the last visit to Atlanta too.

The Opposition

Atlanta lost their next two games after defeating Golden State, but has since won three of their last four games, including an impressive win over the first place Minnesota Lynx on the road in their last game on Sunday. That means that they are also traveling ahead of this game and then they have to immediately head to Arlington to face the Dallas Wings on Wednesday.

Their recent games have been without their young star Rhyne Howard as she suffered an injury following their game against the Valkyries. Maya Caldwell, who was not playing heavy minutes before this, has been filling in for her in the starting lineup to keep the continuity of rest of the rotation, allowing them to choose taller or shorter lineups during the rest of the game. Continuity has been big for the Dream overall as they sit in fourth place as the only team in the league to have not made any transactions at all this season.
