After a tough ending to Monday’s game that saw the Golden State Valkyries lose in the last second, the team will have another quick turnaround for a noon road game in Seattle today. This will be the second time that the Valkyries serve as the opponent for a team hosting schoolchildren during a weekday daytime game, but this game will be in the same timezone and thus be less of an adjustment. With Golden State already winning the two games between the teams in San Francisco, the Storm will be pushing even harder to get a win at home.

The Valkyries

There were no injuries to report from Monday’s game so Golden State is expected to have all eleven players available. This will be the last game before the All Star break, which will be a longer break for the Valkyries than for all but one other team in the league with eight days without a game. A win would create positive momentum heading into that pause and also provide a huge psychological edge of not having a losing record at the halfway point of the season, far exceeding outside expectations for what this team could accomplish.

The Opposition

Seattle is also coming off a tough home loss as they collapsed in the fourth quarter to lose to the Washington Mystics on Sunday. The Storm had won two difficult road games after their last loss to the Valkyries, but have now dropped two of their last three games to teams below them in the standings. They finally had the salary cap space to fill their last roster spot on Thursday and signed veteran wing Tiffany Mitchell after she was waived by the Las Vegas Aces. Guard Lexie Brown, who missed the last game in San Francisco, could also be out for this one having not played in the last three Seattle games.
