WPBA Week 5 Recap

The second half of the regular season started with a full set of games on Sunday. There were more signings and debuts for this week, which was extra busy for the WPBA after the draft for Friday’s All Star Game was conducted. The game format was changed to captain’s selections this year and Rebecca Harris and Erica McCall made their choices.

Reign 71 Titans 60

The day started with this game, which the Reign controlled throughout to keep the Titans winless 71-60. Neither team had any new players as they try to climb up from the bottom portion of the standings in the second half of the season.

Blaze 120 Riptide 86

The Blaze continue to round into championship form, blowing open a game that was close for a quarter for a 120-86 win over the Riptide. Having already seen some talented players join their group this year, the Blaze were finally able to welcome local talent Kylie Horstmeyer to the team after her college career at San Diego and she had an excellent start alongside Isabella Mauricio. The Riptide continued to struggle as they look to stay above the other teams trying to avoid the bottom of the standings.

Wolves 91 Royals 75

After the game went back and forth in the first half, the Wolves were able to seize control and win 91-75 against the Royals. IImar’I Thomas and Rebecca Harris were the combination again in the win as the Royals were missing a key player.

Phoenix 103 Swish 75

The day ended with a strong performance from the Phoenix in a 103-75 win over the Swish to stay the lone undefeated team in the league. Keairra White played her first game in the win while local rookie Kali Myers debuted in the loss.
