The Golden State Valkyries host the Washington Mystics again on Monday. With eight days without a game afterwards, the team will be trying to head into the All Star Break with a double-digit winning streak. This is another case of facing the same opponent again in a short period of time, so the adjustments that both coaching staffs make will be key to prevailing this time. There will be local broadcasts in all three home media markets for this game.
The Valkyries
Juste Jocyte is not listed on the initial injury report for the game so everyone is available for now. The Valkyries stuck with their usual rotations in the first half given their success in recent games. The height challenge posed by the Mystics led to both smallball and taller lineups in the second half that will leave the staff plenty of film to base adjustments on for this game. The closing lineup in close games has been a smallball mix of the starters and bench, but the starters played most of that time together as a unit to take the lead back and get the win.
The Opposition
The Mystics also have a clean initial injury report for this game. Washington tried a few different methods of trying to make life tougher on the Valkyries. Rather than run their usual point guard platoon, they ran their tallest possible lineup against the Golden State bench unit in the second half to try to fight any speed advantage. After the game, the Mystics will return home for a game against Las Vegas before their All Star Break.
